Purpose
The Implementation Group is appointed in order to oversee the implementation of a programme of work which delivers on the Mayor's Healthy and Sustainable Food for London strategy. They will play a key role influencing the overall direction of the programme and encouraging key delivery partners to commit to appropriate implementation actions.
The group will also hold delivery partners to account against milestones and provide input into developing the design of the projects that partners undertake.
- Accountability - the group is accountable to the Mayor of London and seeks to work in the light of the development of the national framework provided by the Strategy for Sustainable Food and Farming, overseen by Sir Don Curry.
- The Implementation Group will oversee production of an implementation plan, this plan will be owned by FIG who will develop and adjust it on an ongoing basis with a view to ensuring the highest impact and best profile possible for the strategy.

Jenny Jones will act as Chair of the Food Implementation Group (FIG) and the Food Unit, which includes Government Office London, will perform secretarial functions on behalf of the group
- Members will represent the needs/views of their organisation/sector into the Implementation Group, consulting as appropriate to facilitate this role
- Members will represent the Food Strategy out to the wider stakeholders, seeking to promote the objects of the strategy wherever there are opportunities to do so
- It is proposed that the Implementation Group refers to London Food for advice and expertise in order to take forward the implementation of the strategy
- Members will use their influence to encourage potential delivery partners to commit to actions to implement the strategy
- FIG will meet at least four times a year on dates pre-arranged by the Food Unit
- Those members delivering projects and activities will report on their progress through an agreed template (see Monitoring Tools paper) on a regular basis in order to facilitate communication to London Food and the wider stakeholders
