The London Skills and Employment Board (LSEB) has been established to provide leadership in improving adult skills and employment in London.
The LSEB is chaired by the Mayor of London and is employer-led to ensure that its work is driven by the needs of employers and that skills provision meets the existing and future needs of the London workforce.
The Board is tasked with developing a strategy for adult training in London and ensuring its implementation.
The LSEB will set the framework for the spending of over £400m (pa) through the London Learning and Skills Councils adult skills budget. In addition, it will have the ability to influence and direct the spending and priorities of other key agencies such as Jobcentre Plus and the London Development Agency (LDA).
The Board will work within the framework of the National Skills Strategy and will be accountable to the Secretary of State for Education and Skills.
