The London Development Agency (LDA) invested £1.1 million towards an ambitious redevelopment of the Royal Arsenal at Woolwich.
It has involved private sector investors to transform a disused, contaminated site into an attractive, 76-acre mixed-use development of housing, industry, heritage and leisure facilities.
Alongside homes and businesses, the site also has a heritage zone, which includes Firepower, the Museum of the Royal Artillery, and the Greenwich Heritage Centre.
The birthplace of Arsenal Football Club, Royal Arsenal is now being developed to allow for 2,500 homes plus over 200,000 sq ft of retail, leisure, restaurant, and office space.
This will build the link between the Royal Arsenal and Woolwich town centre,
improving the night time economy and increasing the attraction of the area.
Already home to more than 1,000 people and a workplace for hundreds more, it will soon be fully integrated into Woolwich – doubling the size of the town centre and playing a key role in the rejuvenation of the wider Thames Gateway.
