The LDA is running a regional heat of the nationwide competition to find the most enterprising place in the UK – a place where enterprise has helped transform a community and led to improved economic prospects for the area.
Enterprising Britain, now in its fourth year, is a key part of the Government’s drive to increase rates of entrepreneurial activity in the UK and aims to:
- Showcase what is being done across the UK to support a stronger, more dynamic enterprise culture;
- Celebrate the success of pioneering examples of enterprising places throughout the UK; and,
- Provide inspiration for others to do more to support enterprise in their area.
Who can take part?
Enterprising Britain is open to all places (in the UK) that can demonstrate how they have transformed the community through enterprise in the last two years.
All entrants must represent an identifiable geographic area, such as a town, a city, a parish or neighbourhood and be able to demonstrate that enterprise is central to the economic and or social transformation of the place.
The overall winner of Enterprising Britain 2008 will receive a winner’s prize package consisting of:
- Nomination to the European Enterprise Awards;
- Extensive media relations package of support to profile the winner’s success and involvement in the competition;
- Logo of accreditation, which can act as a stamp on their merchandise and publicity; materials
- Winner’s trophy, to be presented at the Awards ceremony;

- Opportunities to attend Enterprising Britain networking events as well as access to the Enterprising Britain online network
