G2i (Gateway 2 Investment)

G2i is designed to increase the quantity and quality of London-based companies receiving equity investment, capital that is invested in return for a share of the profits and ownership of part of the business.

Typically, the investor will not want permanent ownership and will look to exit the business within five to seven years. G2i's focus is to increase investment opportunities through mentor support and matching businesses to an investor network so that it delivers tangible results.

G2i brings together a consortium with extensive expertise in the development of technology companies and a shared enthusiasm for the growth of new businesses. This consortium includes Grant Thornton, Library House, E-Synergy, Pembridge Partners, Quotec and The Innovatory.

The G2i scheme

  • Target early stage innovative and London-based technology businesses.
  • Provides Venture Capitalists and Angels with a pipeline of attractive investment prospects.
  • Actively supports early stage companies developing investment propositions through individual and group workshop sessions.
  • Provides entrepreneurs with a wide range of information, self assessment, diagnostic and business support tools.
  • Provides ongoing assistance to businesses to help them achieve their objectives.

What you will receive

G2i is best described as a journey consisting of stages:

Stage 1: The Introductory Seminar - this 3 hour seminar takes companies through the investment journey, what investors are looking for, what an investable company looks like, the current state of the investment market, is equity investment the right way to go - what are the options?  It also gives the g2i team an opportunity to learn a bit more about your business, and its challenges.

Stage 2: You may be invited to attend a one-to-one Business Model Review with experienced investment executives to discuss and develop an action plan tailored to your business needs.

This action plan may include the G2i portfolio of workshops, mentors, assessment reports and introductions to investors. The workshops cover areas such as strategy and business planning, intellectual property, patents and licensing, financial management and forecasting. G2i is responsive and the team will maintain contact with you at all the key points in your journey.

Stage 3: This is the final stage and will involve refining your business proposition. Working directly with the G2i team you will develop your skills and capabilities so that you are in a position to make a strong and compelling presentation to potential investors and provide a detailed explanation of your business idea. And if your business has ticked all the boxes, we will make introductions to appropriated investor/s.

Your contribution

The Introductory Seminar and Business Model Review are free to London-based technology businesses. The latter stages of the programme require a financial contribution from the company, this will not total more than £1,100 and no success fee is payable by companies successfully raising investment.
